Foundation Poured

We have been watching for the past 2 weeks as the foundation was being prepared for our house. The forms for the cement slab have been up for a while. They had to dig around the inside of the forms to prepare the required footings. The foundation cement covers all of the plumbing, so it had to be roughed in once the forms were in place.

On Thursday the foundation area contained the post-tensioning system orange cables. These had to be set out and put on plastic pedestals so that they would be at a uniform height. A set of electric lights were ready for pouring the cement early Friday morning.

We visited the site Friday evening and it looked like we had a pond instead of a foundation! The Yuma heat would dry out the cement too quickly in the main slab if they hadn’t taken any precautions. The contractor piled dirt onto the foundation to hold in water and create the pond.

Bolts were set into the wet concrete ready for the sill plates and framing. Hopefully, we can show that next week.
