Workshop wonders

Randy has been busy in his workshop. Just before Thanksgiving he made a Nativity puzzle for the children of the family we would be joining for the meal.

Georgia decided that the puzzle was complicated enough that a "key" was necessary. She scanned the pattern and then colored it in hopes that it would aid in reassembling the puzzle.

The puzzle was a great success. However, the children wanted to paint the figures. Randy had finished the puzzle with mineral oil, so paint would not stick. The children asked for another puzzle so they could paint the figures.

Randy decided he had better get busy, so he made a second puzzle just in time for church the following Sunday. Predictably, the children asked for the second puzzle. Fortunately, Randy was able to pull a new puzzle out of his briefcase. Since then the children's mother has reported that they are actually painting the puzzle.

We have a Marine Base in Yuma, and any members who live on base are in our Ward at church. Randy found a pattern to create Marines in his wood shop. We show you the prototype, getting ready to salute. More are in the works.

Randy also has had some woodworking patterns for other Nativity scenes. He made two for the missionaries to give out as appropriate.
