When we moved back to the good ol’ USA from Switzerland we brought with us a large collection of yarn for Georgia to weave. At that point we purchased plastic totes to protect the yarn. As a side benefit, the totes made moving the yarn from one house to the next much easier.
Over time a few of the totes have been broken. When we moved into our house in Yuma we found that even more of the totes had broken lids. Since we hope to stay in Yuma a long, long time, Georgia decided that something else for her yarn was in order.
Georgia wanted so be able to see her yarn – for inspiration if nothing else. During some of our various trips to the home improvement stores Georgia decided she knew what she wanted. She concluded that the Closet Maid 9-Cube 26" Wood Laminate Storage was just the thing she wanted. (http://www.closetmaid.com/Look/Product_Catalog/product.cfm?product_id=1594)
Naturally, just one unit would not have held sufficient yarn. So Georgia hopped online and ordered four from the closes home improvement store. The store notified Georgia that she could pick up three of the units, and that the fourth one would arrive in about 1½ weeks.
Randy and his truck helped Georgia bring her storage units home. A later day Georgia planned to put the units together. She got the first unit most of the way finished, but discovered that the manufacturer did not include enough of one part. Since she had multiple units, she pulled the parts out of one kit to finish the first one.
Much to her dismay, Georgia found that the second unit did not have enough of the part for itself, much less any spares. A trip to the home improvement center ensued. They did not have anything that could substitute. So Georgia made a phone call to the manufacturer. She pleaded her case that two units were short of parts. The manufacturer agreed to send out two part kits, which would arrive in about a week.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Georgia finished the second unit by taking parts from the third one. Surprisingly enough, the third unit had not been missing any parts before Peter was robbed to build Paul. As she looked at her work she wondered what it would look like with yarn inserted into the cubbies. Soon all of the available cubbies were full of yarn. Randy wondered if all of her yarn would fit when all four units were available, but Georgia assured him that they would.
About a week later the parts arrived from the manufacturer, and Georgia completed the third unit. But there was still no notification from the home improvement store about the last unit. So she called the store. Oh, yes, the unit had already been delivered. Georgia wondered why they had not notified her. Oh well.
Finally the fourth unit was assembled. Yippee! Georgia finished moving her yarn to the cubbies. Yep, there was enough room. But the wall did not look “finished”. She decided that something was needed to display a few curios. Another trip to the home improvement store. Soon enough a small unit “rounded” out the storage/display on the wall. Her project was finished.
Where's the "like" button? Sounds like wonderful progress has been made.
