Christmas Card

Georgia was given the family assignment of sending out Christmas cards. We decided that we would do ecards as much as possible this year.

First Georgia had to decide the subject matter. A biblical scene seemed appropriate. As she looked through her clip art images she found an black and white image of a biblical town that would work. She found some shepherds too, but they were in color. So the first thing she had to do was use her image software to make the shepherds black and white.

With that done she tried to figure out a background for the ecard. After a bit of grumbling at the software our designer came up with one that would work. More grumbling was produced while getting the three items in place. Oh yes, it did not look right for the town to be at the bottom of the image because the shepherds were supposed to be looking at it.

The next step was to get a star over Bethlehem. More grumbling at the software. In the software's defense, Georgia doesn't do these particular image adjustments very often, so she had to experiment to find what would work the best.

Having the town "hang" in "mid-air" didn't look quite right. The "paint" tool allowed Georgia to create the basic landscape between the town and shepherds. But just black didn't look right either. She used the "eraser" took and created some interest in the landscape.

The image to the right of the shepherds needed to be adjusted for the final "look", so our designer expanded on the palm trees included in the original shepherd image.

But we still needed to get a message into the image. Still more cutting and pasting later there was enough room for a message. "Randy, what Christmas message do you want on the card?" she asked. A sentiment was found and placed into the image. A few adjustments later, and the ecard was done. Yippee! The card was sent out with our updated contact information.
